Having ADHD makes you different from most people. Being intellectually and creatively gifted makes you different, too. A combination of both can easily make you feel as though you're alone in the world and no one will ever understand you. But I truly believe I might.
I know what it is like to not fit into the stereotypical ADHD crowd because you're not struggling with the same things. Your brain compensates for many ADHD struggles by brute force or by creating clever workarounds. You're getting by but that just isn't enough anymore. It can be terribly frustrating and demoralizing not living up to your dreams.
I know what it is like to have a high IQ but still struggle with basic things that leave you and others puzzled. Everyone who is smart can play chess, right? And everyone knows that smart people read a lot and retain it all. Now I know that ADHD factors such as impulsivity and poor working memory can play a huge role. Knowledge changes everything.
Being twice exceptional is a qualitative difference, not merely a quantitative one. Your experience of life is fundamentally different from most other peoples'. Discovering what works for you can easily feel like looking for a needle in a haystack. It is a lot easier working with someone who truly gets where you're coming from. I'm here to listen to you, to get curious about what makes you tick, and to help you develop new and powerful insights.
Life is full of opportunities but it is absolutely crucial to figure out which opportunities take advantage of your unique set of strengths, challenges, values and passions. To live the life you want and deserve you need to embrace that which is genuinely you and discard the rest. Stop measuring yourself against a potential based on a partial, incomplete picture of who you are.
Now you have access to all the pieces. You absolutely still have great potential, possibly even more than you dared dream. It just is going to look different than you and others might have imagined—and different isn't bad. You are different, like it or not, and now is time to get really good at it!
It is my job to help you explore your gifts and challenges in the context of ADHD and gain more clarity than you have ever known before.
You're really intelligent and creative. That's why you're here. Perhaps you think you should be able to figure all this out by yourself since you're so smart. But the thing is, being so smart can actually make it harder to do alone. And when so many things have come easily to you throughout your life it might be hard to ask for help. I get it.
Your brain is so powerful and so quick that you often rush past opportunities to grow without recognizing them. Your thoughts are so many layers deep that it is difficult to recognize what is behind them. When you're highly intelligent it is easy to rely so much on your intellect that you don't allow your emotions the room they need to inform and guide you. Your brain and your heart need to work together.
I help you slow down and see the whole picture. I help you create a dream that envelopes everything that makes you special.
